I think given what's going on out there it would be a great gesture and it would give him a chance to really get out there and document everything happening in Japan, on film!

It's your call, but I know that I, for one, wouldn't be the least bit upset at your decision given the circumstances.

Gee, Rob, I am not sure.

What are the criteria? How do we judge? Who spent the most money contacting you? Who expended the greatest effort trying to contact you? Who provided the most earnest plea to you? Who provided the funniest rationale for sending the F3 to him?

There are so many possible ways to determine how to make your decision.

It does not affect me, in any case. I do not go past the Nikon F2AS.

If he doesn't have internet access, how did he know to enter?

My thoughts exactly.

The original contest had entry requirements but the winner was going to be random draw. Now I am thinking just to run another one next month and give this guy the camera - so far most people seem supportive.

The story is that he lost internet access after the quake and regained it via his phone - I do plan on verification of address but have no reason to believe it's a scam or trick. Look at his post and account carefully.

Whatever you decide, I'll support. It would be a grand gesture, I'll toss in a couple of rolls of 35mm film for it. PM me with your mailing address if that's what you decide to do.

I think it's a nice idea, but take into account that the postal service in Japan might not be very organised right now.

That's great - I think it's a go. I will contact you as soon as I verify it can or cannot be delivered.

Do it, that would be awesome. Major kudos to you, should get a free year of membership for that.

I appreciate the support, but I asked Rob to continue on with the contest as normal and he did. Although the situation is bad here, it's not like I deserve special attention for the camera considering all the other excellent entries and I'm sure the winner will use it well. We all appreciate any help you can send to those in trouble in the north.

For those asking how I entered, I did enter using my phone. Internet is still out at my apartment for some reason, although I haven't gotten a good answer from the company yet. I'm still able to access at work and and 3G is working well. Hoping to upload some photos when it's back on, but I think the internet is pretty well saturated at this point.
