New De Vere Digital Enlarger

Has anyone seen or tried this latest and greatest from De Vere? http://www.de-vere.com/products.htm It seems things have gone full circle again! Ability to print on regular B+W materials as the quality of inkjet, laser, and dye sub is not up to par.

I do wonder how a 5000x3200 pixels LCD screen looks like directly blown up to 50x60 cm enlargement size. Might even be a Bayer matrix. I'd love to see a print produced on that rig.

Very interesting except that nowhere could I find the price. Is it like the Rolls Royce salesman who says condescendingly to the obviously financially straitened "browser" in the showroom. "

Price is around 50K when I was interested in this unit. Decided upon a Lambda Exposing unit instead.

I think I'll stick with film and standard enlarger at 1/500 the price and probably better quality.

Agreed. I would not want to be stuck with the prospect of getting spares for this baby a few years from now...

An ordinary dichro will be plenty good for me when I outift my darkroom this summer.

I have once made some tests with this enlarger on 30x40 cm format. But you can see a pattern in it! So BW exposing with a Lambda/Theta or Lightjet is better I think.
But the principal is good for example for art academies if it was affordable!
