New Contax G2: Display Panel Not Working?

Hey there, after much searching, I haven't been able to find info on this so I decided to make a post.

I just bought a Contax G2, and am really excited to use it. I popped in batteries and a roll of film and all seems to be working fine, except I'm not getting a display on my Display Panel or Exposure Counter on top of the camera. The small screens are both blank. Without these, I have no way to set my ISO, know my battery level, or know how many photos I've taken.

Any advice on how to make these work? I'm starting to worry that they may be defective. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

LCD bleed maybe ??

Make sure your batteries are installed in the right orientation. If they're not properly installed you'll get no power. It's not likely to have blank screens if you have power. LCD bleed would manifest as black blotches in the windows. These cameras are known to experience it, and if it happens there are no spare parts to fix it short of finding a donor camera.
