I'd appreciate any help here. The print head lock only has a bracket on the right side (as I face it)--the side with the spring--and nothing to hold it in place on the left side. Seems like the spring creates tension that will make it easy for the lock to be unlocked. Is this the way it's supposed to be? Seems like the ridge on the left side might be a little rough, and I'm wondering whether a piece of plastic there broke off. (Can't see an odd peice in the printer or box.) Seems counter-intuitive, but maybe the ink cartridges hold it in place? I'd like to determine this before installing all the cartridges, in case I need to return it. Thanks for any help.

I don't see anything out of the ordinary with regard to that supposed rough ridge.

Could you tell us what kind of printer this is? I can then update the thread title.

Anyway, if this is a new printer that just came out of the box, within warranty etc, I'd just proceed with setting it up in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Congrats with your new printer; I hope you'll have fun with it!

I'm really, really sorry: I forgot to complete the title before posting. Canon Pro 300. I'd appreciate if you could add that to the title. Thanks!!
