I'm not sure if this sub-forum is the right place for this, but there is a new Quebec-based distributor of all things B&W, which should be a boon for us in Canada (low shipping rates, no Duty).

I've emailed Jacques at Argentix a few times, and he is committed to supplying film (up to 8x10), paper, and chemicals for the long haul; his prices are eminently reasonable.

www.argentix.ca

I'm posting this because there are so few willing to take up distribution of what has become a niche market, so Argentix, as well as the film/paper/chem makers, deserve our support.

Mods, please let me know if I posted this in the wrong sub-forum.

Thanks

Good selection of B&W materials (sans Kodak); I will give the folks a shot when my HP5 stash draws down...

Good day BradleyK, and all of you APUGers!

I'm presently using an old APUG screen-name, but I will start it up again under ArgentixCa tomorrow.

As I stated in another large format forum, I want to hear from you all.
I need to know what brands, formats and speed are on top of your lists to provide you what is wanted.

I don't want to push stuff you will not use. The brands you see today on my site are to be there tomorrow (unless another Croatian syndrome strikes again...).

Thanks for helping me help you!

Jacques

My website is under surgery at present-time and something new will appear every week for the next few months.

You have 100' rolls of Kentmere 100  That's enough to get an order from me twice a year.

Hi Jacques,

Great initiative! Good to see that you sell Adox and Legacy Pro products. I'm interested in Adox MCP312 and Adox Fine Print Variotone Warmton Fb paper 8x10, 11x14/12x16 and 16x20. With respect to chemicals, it would be nice if you could sell the Legacy Eco Pro paper developer and some brown toners (Moersch). These are all difficult/expensive to order form the US to Canada. Can't ship it by airmail, stores refuse to send it internationally etc. And they're currently not available in Canada. I'll keep checking your website.

Jacques, I just got a supply of Adox paper and chemicals from Freestyle so there's no rush for that. But in the future I'd rather order closer to home as Freestyle's shipping charges to Canada are high and I find picking it up from the UPS store in Ogdensburg NY a hassle. Oh, I'd like to add Eco Pro Hypo Wash to the wishlist.

Good initiative, thank you for your efforts. In terms of chemicals would you sell Pyrocat HD as A + B solutions or sell the components so we cam mix our own? Shipping across the border for this developer is quite expensive.

Any chance of adding the 50 roll pro-packs of Ilford HP5 to your offerings?

Good day to you all in BC!
This is a good question BradleyK.

I'm quite flexible, and ready to handle some speciality products.
In regards with the 50 rolls packs, if you do the math, each film in the box costs averages around 10 to 15 cents lower than a single film in a box.
I fully understand that it ends up to 5-plus dollars at the end of the road, and in the past, I do remember that some sessions I did were a multi-rolls jobs.

Unless I have a known amount of the required quantity in a given time-frame, I can hardly keep it as a regular stock.

There are multiple options to run around this kind of request, and more is to come.

I presently push on the web-site modifications, and few specific items you guys seem to be interested in, and I do not discard the option of a special-order capability for this kind of situation.

More to come...

Keep shooting...

Jacques

Jacques:

I know this can be challenging, but are any Kodak products slated to be added to your list?

The T-Max films, in 120 and 135, in particular.

And Polymax T print developer (aka Liquid Dektol).

Hi Matt
Challenging, but not lethal. Only a question of time.

TMX and TMY for 35mm and 120, and TMZ in 35mm short- to medium-term availability.
For Polymax (Kodak #1388354), medium-term availability. LegacyPro also has an equivalent of this product..

Thanks for your input

website impenetrably difficult to understand.

It took me quite a while to understand how to become registered. One must first register for the site before adding anything to a "cart". [That I've never seen before.] I want to buy Adinox Adinol and there are 14 bottles in Buddy's inventory, yet no way to add any to my cart.

Overall, the website is frustrating.

Adinol... eBay success: Argentix's store there.

By chance, I found Adinol available through Argentix's eBay store, and I have completed the "Buy it Now".

Good day Larry.
First, thank you for your feedback and impressions.
The over-all discussion may go far beyond the scope of this forum and I will follow-up with you via your email address.

Being registered before adding anything to the cart was a decision I took a long time ago. Having seen it before or not had no impact on choosing this strategy and it was a personal decision to implement it this way.
Few things have changed on this website since the last months and it was not on the agenda to change the registration process.
At present time, you are the only registered user with concern about this 'protocol'.

I confess one thing; there was a bug on the ORMD status in the availability grid, and this situation was removing the cart access to ORMD-classified products to customers in Canada. This is why you saw 14 bottles in an unreachable 'cloud'.
This bug was corrected at 16:05 this afternoon.

To all of you, constructive criticism is always welcomed and from your opinions and advices may come out a new idea.

Thanks and have a great day!

Jacques
