Hello All!

I have been lent a Contax T2 for trail run... so far, all good, except for a jittery lens in manual mode.

I have been told by Nippon Photoclinic that this might be as simple as dirty contacts beneath the main switch... Anyone can share how the switch is removed for cleaning?

I have searched, and all I see is the switch dial already removed, but no mention on how it is removed, i.e, if I have to remove like a cover on the dial in order to reach a screw that hods the dial in place... no luck on seeing how it is removed.

Would like to see if I can clean the same and see if it is a feasible option, as the CLA starts at $380.00, plus anything over that they find.

Appreciate your input on this "simple" dial job.

Thanks!

Jorge

I don't have the T2, but check if the screw that keeps the switch dial in place is accessible from the film chamber.

Think I am going to pass on this one... opened the top cover, and the capacitor has definitely leaked, and nos ture what I will find on the other one behind the front cover... I was quoted $380.00 for CLA plus anything else that is found and add shipping and import duties when returned.

That's a lot of money, so I'd like to know in detail beforehand what is being done, how and why.

Yeah, that is why I am passing. Only know that lowest number is $380 for the CLA, plus additional $$$ for anything else done. And if cant be fixed, still $380 down (plus the camara price of course)... forget it... will stick to the trusty old mechanical cameras.

I know how you feel. I had mine fixed in Japan a couple of years ago. They did a good job (Suwa Camera), but who knows how long it will stay fixed? So far so good, but these cameras are getting pretty long in the tooth. I'm on tenterhooks every time I fire it up. I also don't have Kendall Jenner's resources to get it fixed again. But with the original Contax leather case, it looks and feels damn cool, and the photos aren't bad.
