My Canham 5x12 arrived today! I was hopelessly distracted all day! :D

Anyway, I'll spend a few days getting to know it before I load any film holders.

Congratulations Diane. Enjoy!

How are you planning to develop those?
I remember you using a Jobo on other sizes.

Good luck.

Diane,

Congratulations! I am equally impressed by your will power. Waiting a couple of days most certainly would elude me. More likely for me would be ruining several sheets of film trying to figure the camera out on the fly! I hope you share some of the pictures when you are up and running.

Best,

Monty

I finally got a Jobo 3004 and will be using it to develop the film.

Work and a dentist visit are the problems. I've been going crazy for the last two weeks waiting for it to arrive.

very exciting Diane. take some snaps of it and brag to us all.

It feels awesome opening up a new camera, good for you!

My thoughts, exactly!

Congratulations, Diane! Enjoy your new camera, and share some pics of and from the camera.

Best,

Great news, Diane!

One of your previous posts made me think on going 5x12 and not 7x17 but it will be the bigger size

Have fun,

G

Diane, I can understand how you feel right now, although on a much, smaller scale. I just got a 6x12 back for my camera. I'm really looking forward to seeing some of your magic behind the lens.

Good for you Diane. I think you were looking when I joined APUG. That was a long search. Congratulations.

Congrats, Diane! That sounds like a very portable format, and Canhams are great cameras.

5x12" sounds like a great format - kind of like a super-long 5x7"

And it's half of a 10x12", the closest inch-equivalent to the 24x30cm camera I have learned to love even if I have only taken one picture with it (and that's when I found all the light leaks). I'll see if the bottom half of the negative is usable, so I can get an idea of what you format is like!

What lenses have you got/are you planning to get for using with the new camera?

Are you one of those scary persons who read the manual before starting to fiddle around with your new shiny toy! :surprised:

just a little envious :D -- MW

Of course! But I have a dentist appt. today and it's supposed to rain this afternoon. I will practice opening and closing the camera to get a better feel for the process in the meantime. I plan to get some lenses onto lens boards and play with it inside too.

Dianne,

This is a wonderful format, IMO. Last year I was fortunate to see Tillman Crane's Scotland work most of which was shot on 5x12. Enjoy your camera!

That's such great news, I hope you really enjoy it.
And the Canham's are sweet.

What the hell! Everyone's getting a new toy lately. Congrats Diane, I've lusted after one of Canhams designs for some time. His all metal 20x24 looks $interesting$ How bout some pics of yours.

Mike

Diane,

Best of luck with your new toy. 5x12 is a great format, and very portable!

Steve

Mmmmm, new toy, eh, Diane? Sounds like great fun. You might need a new wagon to carry your toys around, though.
