New ADOX factory building: further progress

I recently bought a box of Adox CHS 100 II in 4x5. Excellent stuff. Probably my new mid-speed 4x5 film.

Jim B.

Wow, you are setting up for the next 50 years. Right sized from the start. Looks great.
Best Regards Mike

It looks like good people are doing good things, and still making things. Craftsmanship. The thought of having Silicon Valley flush every good craft out of existence is repellent to me. Looks like these Adox people are not going to just give up and roll over. Long live them. I have no doubt the quality of their products will be impeccable.

Looks really... industrial. Gives increased assurance when replying to strangers in the street asking "do you still find film for your old camera?"

A small gripe, though: no need to put 24Mpix images in the web page; it only serves to s_l_o_o_o_w down the page loading.

It looks good - you are getting there!

I wonder what the three products in limited quantities are? In general, I have a hard time finding "new products" on your Fotoimpex homepage - perhaps setting up that category in the product list would be an idea?

Thanks for your suggestion. Our colleagues from the Fotoimpex shop team are currently working on several further improvements of the shop. Further categories, additional options and products will certainly be implemented in the future.
We try to keep our customers updated also by our Fotoimpex newsletter.

Very interesting insight, I always appreciated seeing how the factory works are going ever since I recall (last decade). This Agfa coater is for both Paper and film? So then ADOX has 2 coating machines in Marly and Bad Saarow? Really interesting.

These are products which have been out there for ages but were not yet entirely made in house. Due to the exit of two photo-chemical manufacturers in Germany within just 12 months, we had to implement the production fully (and do this fast). So it is "new" to do that in house but for you as a customer you simply see availability again on something which was sold out before. I recall someone saying over in another thread that "the only problem he has with ADOX is the unavailability of ATOMAL or such". ATOMAL is one of those products made last week. I´d say that 2/3rd s of our R&D capacities are tied to simply keeping processes allive or fill in gaps left by others exiting the market. 1/3rd is actually spent on new products or improvements. The powder chemicals will have such an improvement build in on which we have been working for the past two years: We are now adding a water soluble latex binder* to reduce the dust when the chems are poured into the water while mixing. This greatly improves product safety by reducing the risk of inhalation.
The first product featuring this will be ADOFIX P II. It will show in the shop next week.
More upgrades will follow when we ramp up the production in house.

Amazing work!

If I were 20 years younger, I would fly over and beg for a job!

Wasn't the issue to come to further new buildings NOT mentioned some years ago?
I remember there was a discussion about 2014???
Or are these buildings in addition? Coating is "coating paper" (Adox paper) right?

with regards

Aha I see - it is for both (paper and films) but to this day it will be first use for coating paper - right?

with regards

PS : Just out of curiosity!

Will Black and White multicontrast in large rolls be available , and if so which paper. Also any thoughts on slow speed film, maybe ortho also in rolls large

Bob, both our MCC and MCP multicontrast papers have been available in large rolls (e.g. for professional labs) for years. We will of course continue to do that.

Also any thoughts on slow speed film, maybe ortho also in rolls large

We are already offering two slow(er) speed films: ADOX CMS 20 II and ADOX HR-50 / Scala 50 BW. We intend to increase our film line in the coming years.
And we are very flexible concerning formats. Our new ADOX CHS 100 II is available in all (rare) sheet film formats up to even 50x60 centimeters. If you have special wishes for certain formats please contact us.

Is the ADOX paper somewhat the same as the old discontinued Agfa Classic.... I used Agfa Classic in our Durst Lambda with great results 4 years before Ilford introduced their version for Lambdas,
I really liked the paper much warmer than the Galerie.

the slower films interest me as I have been able to make Ilford ortho 25 and rollie ortho 25 work in my Lambda , my needs to require 20 inch or 30 inch rolls. I understand Bergger is introducing a pos neg film for digital laser exposure as well.

Interesting times.. I wish you well in your factory's progress

Going forward, will you coat MCC 110 at Marly and/or Bad Saarow rather than continuing to have Inoviscoat do it for you? Is the next batch of MCC 110 (that Freestyle lists as "Approx. delivery date from vendor: May 24, 2019 ") an Inoviscoat or Marly product? Thanks in advance.

The latest Agfa papers - before the factory in Leverkusen was closed - were Agfa MCP and Agfa MCC. These both papers now live on as ADOX MCP and ADOX MCC.

Thank you very much. All the best for your business, too.

No plumbers! From my experience you did the right thing doing it yourself. You now can be sure that the plumbing work was done correctly with no shortcuts.
Pictures indicate a great future.
I tip my hat to Adox.
