Due to ongoing market consolidations on the side of chemical suppliers in recent years, we started a while ago to manufacture small lots of photochemistry entirely in our facilities. Medium sized batches were temporarily produced in our dispersion kettles in Switzerland.

With the finishing of the new building we now have space to move all chemical production machines to one location, scale up the capacity and optimize the workflow.

Some of these machines have been in use for more than 10 years but others, like the 300L kettle or the powder crusher/sieving machine will be used for the first time now.

We hope to be as productive as some of the vanished premanufacturers and plan to increase the quality/homogenity of the products (especially with powder chemicals).

Obviously we also work on new products.

With all the uncertainty in the market it's good to have a manufacturer stepping up to the plate. For myself, I'm most interested in c41 and e6 with separate bleach and fix. What is the possibility?

Great to see this happening!

At this point we sell Tetenal´s color chemistry and we expect this to continue. Making them from raw ingredients is possible but only makes sense in very large amounts.

So you not only built up means to do so as plan B, as indicated in the first quote from two days ago, but even already started such production, be it temporarily.

The Adox Works are maturing.

There has been more than one consolidation on the suppliers side over the years. We started filling and capping about 10 years ago because no one was able to make the wide assortement which we had in such small amounts. In the same time we also started working on the recipes (R&D). About three years ago we had to start making sveral medium size products and the powders. The plan was actually to scale this up now but if need is we can also start making the entire assortement. It is important for us to be able to do it if we have to.

Great news, Mirko! Wishing much success!

This makes me very happy! I'll continue to be a customer, and probably to a larger extent now.

Thanks for the good news!

The EXIF of the first images says: Fuji XT-3 with a 18-55mm lens. Shot at 1600 ISO, 1/30s F5.6. So no, it's digital.
Wrt the original post, glad so see that Adox is doing so well.

Pretty darn cool. Building a new right sized facility to house "used" and new equipment, very wise decision. Adox seems to have a great plan. I haven't tried Adox products yet, need to try some Rodinal. Great job!

Good to hear this Mirko.

I mix up most of my black and white developers from scratch and have for a while now but I wouldn't even know where to start with your Adotech developers or Rodinal. Not sure you are the one actually mixing these but it would appear that you can if you need.

Exactly this is the point I wanted to make. Home mixing is a lot of fun but not all enthusiasts are ready to go this far, especially not if we want to encourrage young people. Our business model is 50% to make some money and 50% to assure the supply chain. With all the uncertainty happening in the past we have found this to be of high importance for the market in general. This is why we reinvest all our profits since the beginning of the company. Building such a plant is only possible with a very long horizon. A company listed on the stock exchange market probably would not do this.
