There is a lot of bidding right now on eBay. Perhaps it's just the recent "stimulus" checks being spent here in the U. S., but prices of sold cameras are definitely up.

Marc

(This seems such a callous post given the plight of those poor devils in India -- and elsewhere too, of course.)

Prices for used analog gear have been tracking steadily upward for some time now.

It is the law of supply and demand. The decent film cameras are getting less whilst the use of film is increasing. A sorry state of affairs which is why I have a number of film cameras which all get used, and in good order knowing they will get more expensive to replace as time goes on.

Dear God how many of these threads do we need?

Dear Christopher. Apparently we needed one more!

I am going to start a thread asking which cameras seem to be overpriced.

Et tu, Christopher?

yes. yes I know. I accept the consequences of my actions. Had I known the extent of these conversations at the time, I wouldn't have posted that one.

When I saw this post, and noticed that it was Christopher who posted, I nearly snorted my coffee all over my keyboard .

I hate it when that happens.

Those who bought well are allowed to be a little smug right now. Those of us who still have GAS less so. Bargains are becoming less common, that's for sure. I had a hard time finding Tamron adaptall 2 mounts in Nikon fitting. That system is still very affordable but the Nikon versatility and desirability is beginning to tell. £3 for an OM mount or £40 ish for a Nikon Ai/Ais equivalent ! In the end I sourced one from Japan.

It makes me feel good that I don't have g.a.s, I have all the camera and lenses I will ever need and I don't have to think about it again

Look at the Leica and Hasselblad prices first, then the Nikon prices feel like bargains.
