This is a unique camera that can expose both glass plate negatives, glass plate positives and metal tintype positives. The camera was built in England by Marc Voce. The camera design is a tailboard model. The front standard doesn't move, rather the rear standard rolls backwards on a tailboard rail. The back rail folds up for transporting the camera. There's a full 36 1/2” of extension allowing for up to a 30” lens, or a 35” lens focused at infinity. A film back could be fabricated for shooting sheet film as well. The are two tripod sockets, one on the bottom, and one at the rear end of the tailboard. As the camera weights 35 pounds, I would personally use a portable fold up table, or a two pole commercial style studio stand.
I had ordered the camera while learning the 19th Century wet plate process. The camera build took 10 months to complete due to an increased demand for large format wooden plate cameras. By the time the camera arrived, I had stepped away from wet/dry plate photography. I'll spare the details, yet if anyone is interested in why I decided to leave the wet and dry plate process, reach out direct and I can explain my reasons.
The camera is new and has never been used. There are inserts for the following sizes: 14x17,14x14, 11x14, and 7x17. The camera comes with a 24” Artar lens and a second lens board. There is also a lens adaptor board for Arac-Swiss and Sinar lens boards. This is one of the finest Artar lenses that I have seen. The Artar covers the full 14"x17" format. I also have a large tripod that will support the camera. The price is $3,800 and the camera can be shipped in the original wooden crate. Local pickup is encouraged. I am located 30 miles south of Providence Rhode Island. I accept credit cards on my website for payment. Feel free to send any questions my way.
