Hi,
I bought just large pile of Fuji Neopan Across 100 film from Japan, where it is practually only sheet film that is available at black and white.

I am thinking to try it with pyrocat-HD.

However, how much I have searched from various forums and from internet, I haven't found any good starting point for developing time.

I can ofcourse try to find it just by guessing. 4 minutes, 6 minutes, 8 minutes, ...

But perhaps I am too lazy for that

My developing procedure is to use trays and shuffle the sheets (if I develop more than one at time). Otherwise I simulate shuffling with one sheet.

Now, which I should take a starting point?

In medium format size I have used Neopan 400 with Pyrocat-HD 1:1:100, agitating first minute continuosly and then 10 second (3 inversions) at the beginning of each 3rd minute.
That gives good N negatives when developed 14 minutes at 24 celcius.

I could take similar approach for Across and sheet film, but how with the initial agitation, is the shuffling enough vigirous?

Another option would be my standard agitation, shuffling first 30 sec continuosly and then one shuffle after each 30 seconds.
But havent found any starting point, especially for that agitation method.

I don't need pinpoint accurate starting point, just some tips for agitation and developing sheet films with pyrocat-HD and 'useful' developing time for Neopan Across.

Regards,
Jukka

I use Acros QuickLoads in Pryocat HD 1:1:100 @ 68 F for 15 min in BTZS tubes with constant slow rolling. It scans well and prints well for Pt/Pd. It doesn't seem to stain as deeply as TMAX 400 or be as contrasty.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Kent

Jukka, I develop Acros QuickLoads in Pyrocat HD (and Pyrocat-MC) diluted 1
+1+100 @ 72 F for 14 min in BTZS tubes with Semi-Stand agitation.

1. fill tube with 72F water and presoak film for 5 min.
2. Dump presoak water and fill tube with 72 F developer and gently agitate via twisting inversion for 30 seconds.
3. Stand tube on end with no agitation for 7 minutes, then gently agitate via twisting inversion for 30 seconds.
4. Stand tube on end with no agitation for 7 minutes, then dump developer and rinse film in tube with 72F water.

5. Fix in tube with 72 F TF-4 or equivalent Alkaline or Neutral Rapid Fixer for Clearing Time plus 5 minutes.

6. Wash (water at 72F) and dry film

The resulting negatives contact print well on Silver Chloride and PtPd.

For the tray shuffle, I would look at the JOBO times as you are doing continous agitation.

I've used acros a lot in 120 with pyrocat, it's a great film and developer. I develop for 12min at 75 degrees F with the 1:1:100 dilution, which sould be a reasonable starting point for sheets. I've also had good luck in the past with the 2:2:100 dilution at 70F, with a time around 10" (it was a while back, I'd have to dig through old lab notes for the exact time).

I used the across sheets (also from japan) with pyrocat HD 1:1:100 10 minutes at 20 'C.
First 30 secs agitation after that 1 inversion each 30 secs.

I got very strange negative strike on my negs which i think had to do with customs and scanning from japan..
There for I stopped using across sheet film.
