Can anyone tell me where I can get an o-ring for my Beseler Negatrans negative carrier? I would appreciate it very much, mine is not gone yet but has the classic circular separation on the band is apparent.

Thank you,
Curt

Beseler list them for sale on their web site (see the bottom of the page linked):

Thanks Matt, I thought I tried them before but maybe I'm wrong, I'll call them in the morning, it's probably too late today.

Thanks,
Curt

Good Evening, Curt,

I understand that Beseler prices are rather high. Several years ago, I made an E-Bay purchase of the rubber o-ring for my 35mm Negatrans from a seller identified as "jacksun44." He was (is?) located in Columbia, Missouri. The cost was $9.99 with shipping included. Somewhere I have the complete address; PM if interested.

I picked up an o-ring for a 35mm negatrans at a hydraulic parts place. They just matched the size, cost about $2. I have to get one 120 soon, the one I have came in 6 pieces. If you can find a hydraulic or heavy equipment parts place near you just take in the old one and i'll bet they can match it.

Maybe I'll check around the area first, I've had it apart to clean it, it's the 120 medium model, I've seen listings on eBay for the 35mm model which was much more popular I guess. I did notice that the negative wasn't extremely flat though and now I wonder if I shouldn't just use the regular negative carrier, I have 645, 2 1/4, 6x7, etc.. I'll look at these too. I have and use the Negaflat for 4X5 so flatness isn't an issue, it's a beautiful design although it scratches the edges so contact print thereafter aren't very nice.

For 5x7 I have a "Zipper" glass less carrier, a design that preceded the Zone IV out straight by decades. The negative is stretched out so it is as tight as possible. I wish I had one for 2 1/4. They made them but getting one now is like winning the lottery.

Here is the current eBay link for the above seller and his Negatrans 35mm o-rings. I found it earlier as I may be in the market for one of these myself.

Unfortunately I see no mention of the medium format o-rings, either from this individual or anyone else.

Thanks Ken, I have the 35mm too but haven't used it, if I get my Nikon F3hp out I might be using it.

I believe the 35mm and medium format units both share the same drive band. The only difference in the two models is the slot size for the film.

I rebanded mine with rings from McMaster-Carr online. Took me a couple of tries to get the size just right, which was still cheaper than the Beseler part. (Sorry, I sold the Negatranses and kept no records of which ring fit :-( )

Thanks all, I can measure it and compare it with the 35mm, if it is the same I'll order one from eBay, if not I'll get one some where else, McMaster Carr is a place I usually go to for "spec" items so I'll keep that in mind.

Ken,

Can you measure the length of the old ring? I have a bunch of rings that fit 35mm negatrans gathering dust. If it matches, I might as well mail one to you...

Ken,

I found the rings. When folded together, it's approximately 275mm outside to outside. If that's the size you need, just PM me with your mailing address.

Eugene.
