I purchased this Jobo processor for an agreed upon amount and we set a location to meet so I could pick it up. I sent payment immediately and then a day later he informed me he had accidentally damaged the processor and would have to refund me. So I went and searched eBay to see if I could find another one only to find a sold listing for the exact same processor with the same description from the same seller. Basically he sold the Jobo to someone else after I had already bought it from him because I guess he figured he could get more for it. In the 8 years I have been a member of this community I have never come across a seller so dishonest. Frankly it’s extremely disappointing that a fellow member of the film community would blatantly in order to make a better sale. Given this interaction I would not recommend buying from belaire as he is not a trustworthy seller.

Yes he refunded me with the explanation that it was “damaged”. Clearly it wasn’t too damaged to sell to someone else

Minus the Paypal and eBay fees it appears he sold his soul for a couple hundred bucks.

Maybe it WAS damaged and it was parted out / sold to someone who needed everything but the broken parts ?
Too bad we cant hear from the seller, not that I don't believe / trust you ( OP ) but maybe the seller has an explanation ?

He seems to have used this venue exclusively to sell his wares.
Apparently, he's packed his tent and moved on.

Considering the 10 year history on Photrio and 100% positive feedback on ebay, maybe this was just a lapse in judgment to cover for the ebay sale. The auction started May 26 the day after it was listed here. In addition, by the time the OP had agreed to purchase and had already paid, it was too late to end the ebay auction per their policies. It's a risky practice at best and a shady practice at worst but irritating all around. One mistake does not an untrustworthy seller make.

I understand what you’re saying and would tend to agree, however if that were the case it would be simple to just explain that and tell the truth instead of lying about the reason he couldn’t sell it to me. At that point, yes, he is in fact untrustworthy.

It has always concerned me that this is an avenue open to those who for a small investment in a subscription can instantly become sellers. There was a time when selling on Photrio was done by those who had been subscribers for several years, were genuine photo enthusiasts and for whom selling was almost a service to other users.

Such genuine people do still exist on Photrio but being sure who they are has become too much of a lottery. The APUG that I joined has not just changed its name to Photrio but is now a different animal. There would be ways to dissuade those kind of sellers from joining but I feel the willingness to adopt those ways has ebbed
