I just made a 6X9 carrier for my D3 with glass on the bottom but nothing on the top is it going to work? I thought less surface the light has to go trough. The film sheet is flat by it self. What are your thoughts? Is my reasoning wrong?
I am in the market for a 5x7 negative carrier for a Chromega e 5x7.
Calumet lists one with glass and one without.
What are the pros and cons of glass vs no glass? I have never used a carrier with glass before so I am leaning towards the glassless one. Am I missing something here?
Also, any other suggestions other than Calumet?
Anyone got a spare one laying around the darkroom?
I have glass and glassless carriers and I'l take the glass one any day of the week. Just keep the glass clean and you'll never have a problem. I hardly ever
have to actually clean the carrier itself. Oh-and it sure does keep your negatives flat!
Best, Peter
Keep the humidity up in the darkroom to lower dust and by all means use the glass carrier. reg glass on bottom anti newton on top.
As Peter says keeping clean is not much of a problem with good work habits.
