Hi:

I just got a Beseler 45S Dichroic color head for my 45MX enlarger on eBay. It did not come with an instruction manual. Can someone tell me the color filtration settings to print on B&W VC paper (Forte Polygrade)? I'd appreciate as many grade settings as possible. I need the information for the Per Volquartz workshop this coming week.

Thanks very much!

check the handout that comes with the paper. Most companies have recommend settings.

I too have a 45S, and find that the filtration match closest to a grade 2 paper is about 30M which does not agree with the table above. In addition, going up to 200M does not give me the big contrast boost I expect. It goes up, but I would give it about a 3.5 or 4, not a 5.

Before anyone says, "hey, your filters are bad" or some such, I do regular color printing and the filtration behaves normally for color paper. Also, measured density changes on-easel seem to be correct.
