I need suggestions for software that I can use to load my images onto a CD for a client to view. I need something simple, elegant, easy-to-navigate and visually appealing for the client but it doesn't need to be fancy and it certainly shouldn't be complicated. I also need it fast because my customer wants it in a few days so I don't want an overly complex program. Preferably, I would like freeware that I can be up and running within a matter of hours. In another related thread, someone suggested Infraview, SimpleViewer, and Jalblum. I just tried all three of them. SimpleViewer simply wouldn't load on my PC so I couldn't try it. Jalbum had a very easy-to-use interface and it was good looking too but, unfortunately, it is apparently only for uploading to websites and it does not allow you to burn the gallery to a CD. Infraview didn't do that either. I may use Jalbum to publish to a website but, for now, I just need produce a nice-looking gallery that I can burn to CD. I don't have time to learn a complex program as I was informed yesterday that they will need it in a few days so they can order prints before their fiscal quarter ends.

You can get a 30 demo of Adobe Lightroom here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshoplightroom/

The program will do simple image manipulation (probably more than you really need anyway) and will burn the whole thing to CD (as TIF, or full size JPG or other formats). It will also create a PDF slideshow.

Thanks much! I will check that out right now.

I should have said that it's not that I don't want to pay for a program but I just need something that is very user-friendly and won't take a lot of time to learn and most programs that you buy are loaded with stuff that would only slow me down right now. What I am looking for is something that would have thumbnail pages that look similar to the attachment here. It has to be loaded up on CDs that I can give to the buyers and which they can then navigate from their own PCs.

Lightroom can also create HTML or Flash galleries. It shouldn't take you too long to figure out how to create what you need.

Nope! It simply won't load. I tried about six times. It does create a zip file and I do unzip it but the files it creates can't be executed and they are tiny... just a few KBs. I'm running XP. I download software all the time but this is one that simply won't work for me.

My picture editing software is Photoshop CS. I never thought of it having the ability that I need. I'll check that out. Thanks.

I think you may be misunderstanding what I need. I am not looking for anything elaborate. I do that in PS. In fact, just the opposite is the case. I don't even need picture editing since I do that in PS. Remember, I need to get this done in one or two days. It's a one-time thing. I was just asked for it on Saturday. I did check out Lightroom but I can see that it would take a while to figure it out and I simply don't have the time in this case. Lightroom is a elaborate professional program. I watched the tutorials and read the info that they had on it and not only did I not see the feature that I need, but I could tell that even if it does have that feature, it would probably take me too long to find it and figure it out. Also, being an expensive program, it is loaded with bells and whistles.

I tried Picassa too but it doesn't look like it will build what I need on a CD. It will put pictures on a CD but I don't think it will build it with the interactivity that I need.

As you can see, I have some unusual constraints here, the main one being time. I have no doubt that the software that I need is out there and it can be downloaded. That's why I asked the question.

"if thats too complicated for you then you have problems and will likely have to get someone to do it for you."

That was un-called for. I have always found this group to be friendly until you posted that remark. You have some growing up to do son. I guess there's always one in every group. But congratulations! You have the honor of being the only person on my ignore list.

As I know only Picasa and ACSee produce an automatic presentation on CD.
With other programs You'll have to burn manually your media, but it's simple.
Simply let your favourite Gallery-maker (such as infraview or Jalbum or similar) prepare and save the galleries. Save them in a separate folder. Then simply pick the content of the folder and burn it on a Cd (the Xp internal program is ok, but if you prefer you can use Nero or similars). So you'll have your CD-site ready to be distributed; to begin navigation just open the file called "index.htm(l)" that should remain in root. Probably, if your customer have the auto-run option enabled, it could be automatic.

A couple of years ago I had to put together a short presentation of photos using my sister's HP multifuction printer/scanner and the software that came with it. I had no other choices, since I was remote from my normal array of machines. It was very easy to use and it worked out quite well and all we did was pop the resulting CD into a run of the mill DVD player and it played without a hitch. Some of the software is available via download, from HP Dead Link Removed

I don't know if it installs or runs without an HP product attached however, but if you can't get to where you need to go with the other suggestions, it may be worth a try.
