Have a Bronica S2 which I love. However, it has a problem (evidently common) where the finder focus differs from focus on film. I'd also like a general CLA, since while the camera works well it probably hasn't been serviced in decades. My longtime repair wizard has retired recently--can anyone recommend someone in North America for the job? Thanks, Jim
I've read that this is the result of the foam "packing" which keeps the screen in the proper position deteriorating; the fix I gather is doable at home. Here is a thread which may help: (there was a url link here which no longer exists)
I'll watch your thread for recommendations from others for service folk; I'm sure my S2a could use an expert touch. I have the Kiev screen but haven't dived into the fix.
I wish I were that adept! If I tried to repair any camera, I'd wind up with shards of glass and metal <g>. The responses from that old posted mentioned Jimmy Koh for repairs; I understand that he's no longer repairing S2s.
I know that this thread is a very old one, but as there are so many Bornica's lovers who can't fix this issue of wrong focusing, and as I've find how to fix it... I share my experience.
It's simple...Changing the foam under the upper frame is not enough, you have to replace also foam under the mirror !!
I've tried so many times to change foam under the upper frame without succes. until I decide to have a look at the mirror and change these foams that are totaly destroyed en desagreged.
The miror whas about 1mm lower the right level and it 's enough for a bad focus !
