need quick help please. should i return the lens? fungus?

hello.

wondering if i should return the lens. how is it gonna develop? what is it?
its inside the lens. sorry 4 bad pix, got no more decent digital macro stuf..

It's hard to tell what's what in your pics, the blue-green spot in the first picture looks to me to be a coating defect on the front surface.
Not particularly desirable, but probably won't affect your prints.
In the second, are you referring to the spot at the three o'clock position? Could be fungus starting, it may well be cleanable if you have the tools to open up the lens to get to that surface.
Otherwise, probably best to return it. Don't open it up unless you're committed to keeping it.

The spot at the bottom looks like a reflection, but it's hard to tell.
 

yes, thats the white round spot i am talking about.
the blue green spot is exactly the same spot, just taken from a different angle, showing that the coatings are/were affected.

seller told me that they cleaned the lens from several "spots". maybe they forgot this one, or (and thats my fear) its coming back - if - this is fungus?

and no, i dont have the tools to open it, so i guess its better to give it back..?


edit: ps. its not on the front element (at least not on the outside..)
 
Its an enlarger lens. You may near see those defects on the prints.

If the price is right just keep and print as many as possible.
 
If possible can you unscrew it from the holder and take one more photo of the same.
 
Okay. Mine is Componon-S 80mm f/5.6 and its okay. If I print better I may get 'apo' until that day this is my little work horse.
 
difficult to return it.. other than this little fungus spot this lens is in great condition...
prints are simply beautiful.

anybody can tell me how this will develop? i mean can it be cleaned once in a while, and it will stay in great condition? or will the fungus silently eat the coating on a "deeper level" where i cannot clean??

the fungus will probably get worse, probably slowly (but this depends on where you live, humidity). I would return it. Since you are unwilling to open it, look around for the cost of a CLA. Calculate this into your final cost. If what you payed + CLA means you are paying the same as for a good sample, then return it. Sometimes the "overpriced" mint condition lenses are worth it for peace of mind.

Also keep in mind, because it's already been attempted to be cleaned, you don't know what other optical imperfections it might have developed as compared to a clean copy of the lens. probably nothing, but something that might push you to return the lens.
 
simply x-ray them if you can.
 
If that is fungus, and I don't think it is from the pics, set it in the sun w/ the light shining right into it for a few hours/days. The UV will definitely kill the fungus. Make sure you set it on concrete or a brick, as the lens will act as a magnifying glass and could set something on fire behind it if its flammable.

Anything that small is doubtful as far as affecting the use of the lens, especially at f8.

anybody can tell what it is?
the white spot (that is also the center of the "attacked" coating) is not fully dense, a fluffy still perfectly round, but to my eyes not "hairy" dot.
