I took my new to me 503cw out for a test today and seem to have locked the lens on. I assumed I should turn the small silver screw inside the body clockwise to open the lens back up but that’s not doing it. Any ideas folks?
From your description it’s not too clear about what you did and what you possibly haven’t done.
After pre-releasing the mirror did you press the shutter release to expose the film? Did you cock the camera-and-lens after taking the shot with mirror lock-up?
If you can remove the lens, then trigger the shutter to see if the mirror will come down.
Remove all batteries charge or change if needed and try triggering the shutter once again.
Check that the slotted screw on the back side of lens is rotated fully in the direction indicated by the arrow.
Don't force anything...
Could you have accidentally set double exposure? Under the hand crank is a button. With the lens on, try pressing that button and then winding the crank.
Thanks everyone, it’s fixed! It turns out the small silver screw was corrected, I just didn’t turn it far enough for fear of forcing it. Ultimately I put it on a tripod, as I should have in the first place, and it was a quick turn.
I am in Westwood and I could easily see the tall smoke clouds all day from here. I lived in a canyon for 24 years and cleared brush every April and again in May. I worried about fires for years. It is painful to see what is happening.
