The other day I tried to dust off and use my F3HP for a weekend trip. Put in a fresh set of batteries. Winded the camera to test, and got nothing. The camera is kind of jammed. The LCD does not show anything, which is supposed to show '80' before the counter goes to 1 if I remember correctly. I cannot release the shutter at all. I tried rotating the shutter dial to different speeds, but still cannot release the shutter. And yes, the switch is at the on position with the red dot showing. I haven't used this camera for a long time as I ususally shoot medium and large formats. Maybe I forgot the proper procedure? I did read the instruction manuel again. Any insight? Thanks.

Jason.

Does the front shutter release work? It should work regardless of electrical power if the mechanicals are ok.

Hi Barry,

Never thought of the front shutter release. I'll try it tonight. Thanks.

Jason.

The LCD does not show anything ... I cannot release the shutter at all

Possibilities:

1) The fresh batteries aren't. Don't be surprised by this, there has been a flood of counterfeit LR44/A76/etc. batteries, most are marked 'Maxell'. If you got your batteries on ebay or some semi/unknown vendor on Amazon then suspect the batteries.

2) The battery contacts are bad.

3) RIP

I cleaned the contacts with alcohol and the F3HP springs back to life. Thanks again for all your helps. Hmm..... I guess I don't have an excuse to get a replacement......

No, but you may have built a good "case" for a back up....

Best regards,

Bob
