Need help with bulk film loader

Hi guys, first post.

I have purchased Ultrafine Xtreme 400ISO 100' roll and was under the impression that the roll was attached to a core in the centre.
There is no core attached to the centre of the roll. How am I supposed to load the roll into the loader?

The bulk loader I purchased (LPL Dayroll) came with a white plastic core that rotates on the main spindle.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Measure the loader core 's outside diameter, and look for a piece of thick-walled plastic piping with slightly larger inner diameter. From the sounds of it, 1 inch or 25mm would be too small; 40 mm sounds more or less right. Cut a section as long as the width of 35 mm film, and use double-sided tape to attach the inner leader of your bulk roll to that. If you can, you can cut a longitudinal groove for the film to slide into. You'll have to work very carefully so that the roll does not unwind on you. If you have a core from a previous bulk roll, that would work best. Or if you do woodworking, it would be easy to turn out a core that is exactly the size you need.

The core your bulk is wound on is for some of the cine machines some bulk comes like this

The core you have already should be a slip in fit to the core that the film is on. The ensemble should then fit into your loader easily.

welcome to APUG .

I have similar loader, but no experience with Xtreme film. What I did when I got 90 meters of some film that was not possible to fit automatically (of course) - is simply load film manually on plastic core. It takes some time, and you need to be careful to touch the film only on edges.

-) one does not need a bulk-loader for bulk loading

-) it should be possible to put the film into the LPL loader without any core. The resting length indicator would not work properly though.
Release the indicator lever by pressing that pin at its axle. And check whether the film can scratch at the large circumference. Arresting that lever in its off position might help.

ultrafine films have no core, just wrapped film. I just put them in the loader and roll as normal. I have a few cores from other used rolls and i tried to get the core to hold the film but no luck. just put it in and it will work fine

The core used for the paper tape used in some cash registers is only slightly wider and works fine in bulk loaders. Most stores are kind enough to save you a couple of spools if you ask.

Any type of core can easily be built from a strip, appropriate wide, of cardboard.
Rolled whilst glueing to form a cylinder by starting from under-size.

Yup, that's what I did and my Ultrafine 100 loads just fine. JW
