Hi y'all,

So I've just ordered a roll of Color Infrared Film from Bennici Tarquinius at www.tarquinius.de (check out Color Infrared on flickr). This guy takes the time to cut down bulk aerial film (the only color infrared left!) and sells it at a reasonable price, considering the effort. I'm mentioning him mainly to encourage others to get some and try it out; he's doing a great thing and should be supported!!

But I digress....

So to use this film properly you need to use yellow/red filters and the only 120 camera I currently have is a (620) Kodak Tourist with the 105mm Anaston f/4.5 lens. I got some series VI drop in filters, because I thought this is what I needed, but they are way too big. So I need the right adapter/retaining ring, but I'm unclear exactly what size I need.

There are a bunch of adapters that fit series 6 filters & in a variety of lens diameters. I measured my lens and the inside diameter (where the female threading is) is approx 24mm, but they offer like 23.6, 24.5mm, etc. I need to get out my calipers to be sure, but I was hoping someone might already know the answer. Or perhaps, a different series size would be better suited?

I found a manual for the Tourist with the Anastar 101mm lens, which should be the same lens diameter, I BELIEVE, but don't really know. (manual from http://www.butkus.org/chinon/ Another superb individual with an invaluable service, and yes, I made a donation)

It says.... "All of the above items in the series VI size fit the 1 & 5/16 inch Kodak Adapter Ring (w/ Insert) which in turn slips over the lens mount of your Tourist. To assemble a filter, Portra Lens or diffusion disk in the ring, unscrew and remove the insert and place the desired lens or filter in the ring and replace the insert."

This is ever more confusing though, since 1 & 5/16th inches equals about 33mm. The series 6 filters measure about 44mm, and the lens diameter is about 24.

So as you can tell, I don't know sh*t basically.

If anyone has some insight, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks!

I looked at my Tourist II with the 105mm Anaston f4.5 and the Kodamatic shutter.

In mine, I don't see any filter threads, just "striations" in the black ring around the glass. I've always understood these types of lenses to require a slip-on type filter holder such as http://www.songofsnow.com/26mm-to-Series-5-p/pas526.htm. This is consistent with your quoted description, which references a 1 5/16 slip on adapter ring.

Now mine is the Tourist II, not the original Tourist. But all the pictures I've seen of them seem to show the same basic ring around the lens.

Ahh, ok. You're right! I didn't look closely enough I guess. However, 1 5/16th inches equals 33mm, BUT that's for the 101 Anastar, and I guess they're just enough different.

Either way, that's a big help, thanks a bunch!
