Hi,

I just got a Nikon body from a friend, and she has no clue what it is. The body is the classic black leather and chrome style. There is a PC port on the upper right corner of the front of the camera. It also has a a black box/device/fixing on top of the prism, I assume it is some kind of meter assistant. However, this does not make sense because the camera (I am guessing) already has a meter, why would it not? The prism reads Nikon, not Nikomat. Other features include a depth of field preview button, a self-timer, a film box-top holder on the rear, shutter speeds up to 1/2000, and it looks like a mount/screw/place for a winder on the bottom. Thanks in advance for your help.

I was about to comment that you forgot the "IMHO", but then I noticed you said "one of..." so I guess I have nothing more to say. I agree, the F2 and the F3 are the best cameras ever made.

That "black box" on the top is the meter. In the days of the F2, it wasn't unusual for metering prisms on 35mm bodies to be accessories.
