I'm working on a redesign of my site and wanted to get some input from people on load times and on different browsers as well as mac systems.
If anyone has the time please go to: http://www.menacingtourist.com/ and please note that the only two links currently active are Design and Painting.

I wanted to get some of this feedback before I got too far into putting all the pages up. I have my suspisions about its performance and wanted a larger test group before acting. The site is mainly to function as an online portfolio but I do plan on adding a purchasing function on the Painting page since I do occasionally sell this work.

I'm veiwing on IE7 and a screen res of 1680x1050.

Nothing is set in stone and suggestions are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Alan.

I am using Firefox and it loads fast. My screen res is 1024X768

Like your paintings

Thanks guys.
I'm particularly interested in the experience of how long it takes to the roll over images to load. I'm seeing longer times on the Design page. I did that page first and the Paintings page was programmed a little differently.
I also like the secondary nav on the Painting page over the other.

How fast are your connections?

The roll over images appear instantaneously - no delay at all. Connection here is cable.

If you want to check a URL on different operating systems and browsers, go to

http://browsershots.org/

Enter the URL, and after a few minutes downloadable screenshots will appear. You can select your language in the top right corner of that page. It's great - I used it before.

It's a beautiful design. I'm running XP/Firefox on limited bandwidth, and it takes about 5-10 seconds to load. My bandwidth is approximately 100 kbps.

Looking good and loading fast. Opera/Mac Leopard
Well done.

Mac OS X 10.4.11 with Foxfire. Runs well.

The wait time for the Joke Thread is slow on the Mac and PC. It may be time to start Volume II of the Joke Thread. The eBay thread is beginning to get a little slow.

Suggestion: Some Fora have a button on the end of the thread title that take the user to the first unread post directly. Could we add this feature?

It is already there Steve - see the "down arrow" to the left of the thread title.

Matt

P.S. I didn't find out about this for the longest time - it is such an improvement!

Thanks for everyone's eyes on this. It really helps.
Now I just have to put up all the pages...Gonna take forever...

Loads and changes faster than APUG. Mind you, APUG has always been slow for me. My Broadband is currently delivered at 1.1MBps. and I view with IE7.

Hope this helps

Looks great in Opera 9.24 under MS Vista on my "really fast wireless link". I don't know exactly how fast this is - my stepson asked me if I would agree to installing a faster connection (he works in customer support for one of the major ISP's here in Norway), and I said "yes".
