Hi:

Can anyone recommend someone to make an easy repair to an older style Wista 4x5? The round on the right-rear side that tightens down the tilt rail has broken. The screw that the knob sits on has snapped off. A good repairman should be able to fix it easily. I could probably do it, too , if I knew where to get the part.

Does anyone know of a parts supplier or a repair man who can turn this around fast?

Thanks!

-Mike

wista repair

Mike-HP marketing are the ones that distribute Wistas now. There was a thread with phone # several days ago but you can access them through their website. Otherwise I use Richard Ritter in Vt. 802-365-7807 Call him and tell him that you need this fast-he's a great guy and does excellant work!
Regards Peter

Thanks Peter. I e-mailed Richard and will call him tomorrow.

Attached is a picture of the part that broke. I was able to remove it from the camera so if I can find a replacement part, I can repair it myself.

The part that attaches to the camera inserts into a small hole in the wood via pin at the base of the brass disc that is attached to the camera. The pin is .4 cm in diameter and .6 cm long.

Does anyone know where I can get this part?
I will try to get help from Richard Ritter, but if he can't I'd like an alternate source for parts.

Thanks.

-Mike

Do you have a True Value Hardware where you live, they carry parts like this in their nut and bolt isle.

Sent the broken parts off to Richard Ritter. He said he would have to fabriccate a replacement part and even then it wouldnot be just like the original. Turns out the pin on the bottom of the disc and the screw on top are offset from each other! So, I doubt that I'd find it off the shelf. And I want as close to original as I can get.

Thanks for the help.

Did you find an adequate replacement? If not I am sure I can make you one identical to the original. Is it plated?
