Hello all, thanks for the encouraging remarks in my last post on these high resolution films. I have the 5400 scanner until Oct. 13, then I am going to be making a traditional darkroom here.

I have decdied I would like to try these films while I can scan them first to test their properties that way, and then also print them traditionally and compare them that way for everyone.

Is there ONE developer that will work good with these three "Tech Pan replacement" like films? Or do I have to purchase each individual devloper for each film?
I only ask this because it seems like everyone is out of the kits, but still has the film available. I was hoping I could buy the film, and then one developer in large quantity and do my test.

Thanks for any advice,
Jed

The developer I have used for Rollei ATP and Adox CMS 20 is H&W Control.The Bluefire HR developer is an updated version of this (it probably uses a more stable form of phenidone) made for the Bluefire film and IMO it will very likely produce good results with all three films.The CMS 20 is the most contrasty film and reducing the development time by 2 min from the recommended may give better results.
IMO it's important to follow the instructions for continuous agitation so as to avoid uneven development.Details at this site:

It's quite possible other developers of this type may work for all three films as well but H&W is the one I tried.

Thank you Alan! I will look for a phenidone based developer that is available around here.
Hope to be reporting back in a couple weeks with test results, permitting everything goes as planned (I still have to get the film mail-order).

Photographer's Formulary has TP type developers
and they have the chemicals needed for compounding
same at home.

I've posted in the formula section a TP glycin developer;
just three chemicals. There are a few formulas good for
home-brew. A quality small capacity scale and a few
chemicals; lots of possibilities. Dan
