Hi, I've been browsing the older threads about this and I can't find a clear answer. I have the square Yashica lens hood and I want to use a filter also. Can I get a filter that will allow me to use the lens hood at the same time? If I want to use the lens hood at the same time does that mean that any adapter like the bay I to 49mm adapter is out of the Q?

Yes, you can use a bay. 1 filter with the lens hood. The filter goes in the inner bayonet, and the hood on the outher.

If you use a bay 1 to 49mm adapter you will have to use a 49mm hood as well.

Would the 49mm hood block the viewing lens?

Maybe a little.

Bayonet 1 filters are easy to find, and also available new from Hoya, B+W and Heliopan.

One of the advantages of using a bay-1 (aka B30) hood and filters, is that you won’t need to take the hood of when changing filters. Keep simple.
