I have a Canon FX with a self timer that appears to have a broken spring. The timer lever can be actuated and, with hand assistance, returns to the proper position and trips the shutter correctly. This suggests the gearing and linkages are OK, but the spring no longer drives the mechanism.

It seems like changing the entire mechanism is the way to go. I have seen some on the Bay but not for the FX. The FX uses an FL lens mount.

Are there any repair shops/people that specialize in Canon FL mount cameras?

Which cameras are compatible / have the same self timer device? Here are list of cameras that seem like candidates:

TX
Pellix
FT
FTb
FTQL
FP
7
Canonflex RP
P

You can try Ken Oikawa (California) for repairs. Not sure if he'll have any parts though.

The FX, FP, Pellix, FT, FTb, TL, TLb, and others, are built on the same chassis as the FX. They share many parts, probably the self timer mechanism too.
