I would pay twice that if it could be posted to the UK.

Steve.

Need a bob tail truck with a lift gate to move that monster. About 6,7ft tall, whee and all for a dollar.

Everytime I see something like this I see Steve post that in the UK they suffer. This sux!
Steve, how can we help you over here???? Is it the weight for shipping? I bet we can figure out something.

That is amazing! I didn't know that they made enlargers that big.

Have you missed my recent thread here?:

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

I think this one is a bit too big to ship!

It's the relative prices really. 5x4 (or 4x5) enlargers seem to be very cheap (or even free) in the US, but go for several hundred pounds here.

The only reason I can think of is that they were more common in the US, possibly because you have more space in your houses for larger darkrooms.

The US style large basement (which admittedly, I have only seen on TV shows) is not very common over here and most home darkrooms are squeezed into whatever space can be found. Hence a surplus of 35mm and medium format enlargers but very few for large format.

When the time is right one will turn up for me. Either that or I will build one!

Mine fit in a SUV with about an inch to spare.

Parking it next to the 8x10 Salsman might just be the one to really piss her off.

Steve You're absolutely right about U.K. prices. I have never noticed £1 enlargers here or heard of anyone finding one in a skip or just rescuing one before it was dumped for free. Mind you many months ago there was a guy in Wales, I think, selling a 8x10 on e-bay at what by UK standards was bargain basement price. It was pictured in what looked like a small factory unit and he was honest enough to say don't bother unless you have at least a Transit van to collect. If I remember correctly it was the better part of half a ton in weight. A bit big for my converted spare bedroom!
