Does anyone know where to find the correct size ND filter for the filter tray in a Bessler 23C enlarger? Thank you.

There are plain ND filters available as foils and as plastic plates. In both cases you can cut them to size.

A piece of lightly fogged 4x5 film may do the trick.

Or use a ND filter that screws into the lens... 40.5 mm is what i need for my Rodagons and Nikons.

IIRC, the filter tray on the 23C is between negative and lens, in which case you will want an optically-planar Wratten gel filter or the like. These you cut to size. Be sure to keep them clean! Filters in the filter tray get dusty pretty fast. As an alternative, I would likely use a filter over the lens as mentioned above.

The best solution, however, may be to attenuate the light source somehow. A different bulb or some kind of ND sheet or diffuser between bulb and negative. Or, just stop down more...

All but the earliest 23 series enlargers have a filter holder above the carrier as well as the little sliding holder just above the lens. A Rosco ND filter can be used in the filter drawer. How about this 2 stop one from Adorama:
Rosco Cinegel N.6, 20x24" 0.6 Two Stop Neutral Density Lighting Filter
