Need a few small parts (screws) for Rolleicord

Can anyone suggest where I can buy a couple of fasteners for my art deco model Rolleicord? One is for the film pressure plate on the back and the other the strap holder on the side.

I thought about buying another similar model for parts, but that may be a bit much for a few screws.

Check out a local hobby shop. I got a decent variety of tiny screws at one, and I didn't have to buy 100's of screws.

If you do decide to go the parts camera route, let me know, I'm in dire need of a 'Cord back door.

That's an idea, I'll have to find a hobby shop! lol

I was trying to post a few simple pictures and can't get them in the post. I tried uploading and it says the 700kb file is too big, then tried the url route from flickr and that does not work either. What did I not do correctly?

My local Ace Hardware does not carry anything smaller than a #4. I cannot tell much from the pic.
When I need something odd, or I need a lot of them, I go to Carr

i wish i could see it. your picture shows a spanner head but the thread n length is very hard to size in a photo.

a model shop may have it. model cars n planes use very small screws.

Purists will bristle, but the goal is to make the camera usable. That screw you need in the pressure plate doesn't have to withstand any real pressure (no pun intended), it simply needs to keep the pressure plate straight. I would look for a metal or plastic screw that I could self thread in there at possibly a hobby shop, a discard bin in a thrift store (computer mice and such usually have small screws, as do small appliances, radios, walkman cassette players, etc) or even make one. Just be sure that the head is filed down so that nothing scratches the film as it goes by. If you look around diligently you will find something you can get a couple of donor screws out of for that and the strap lug. A touch of black paint will fix any colour mismatch on the outer screw.

While you're in there you might want to clean that pressure plate and make sure there's no roughness on those discoloured areas that might scratch the film. Those old Rolleicord cameras have great lenses. Your shot of the glass building w/ the beautiful clouds that was taken w/ the Brownie is just great.

Your need is for metric screws.
Microtools carries a variety. The exciting part is identifying sizes.
There're some Rollei technicians always recommended here that might help out.
We're just gonna need a bit of patience 'til someone pipes up.

You get down around 1mm or so & most hardware shops won't do a lot of good.
I looked at a couple of sources online but their sizes range from 1.6mm & up.
If you have a metric caliper you can get the diameter but that doesn't help
with the missing screws a whole lot. Does it?

Hobby shops may have a small selection for you to check out. If they
don't have metric HO trains use down to a 00 & that's gettin down there.

Must be close to a 3M.?

Does the screw set pass through the back? If you look on the outside o f the back is there a screw head showing? If so, that sure looks like what they used on early YashicaMats and on Minolta Autocords.

Do you still have the sleeved nut for the interior, or do you need that also?

As to the other screw, if there is another one, post an image with it against a ruler or such. Realize that on post-WWII Roleis at least, the screw at the front of a strap lug and at the rear of a strap lug are not the same.

Look at hardware shops that stock small metric nuts (1.6mm?). In the US eg. McMaster-Carr, otherwise you shall have to look in european shops.

You likely would need to file(machine) the nut to fit that recess and your tool.

A bunch of european cameras to donate generic parts would not harm neither...

oh since its a sex bolt it doesnt matter what size screw n nut you replace it with as long as it clears tge hole n flushes with the plate.

how big is the hole and how long a screw do you need?

Another possible source for tiny screws is a jewelry shop which has an active watchmaker in house. Mine keeps a sizable tin full of random SAE and metric ones. It's hit or miss, but I have had a few hits along the way.
