NE OH Gathering: September: 30, October 1-2, 2011

For once, it appears my schedule is wide open! See you there, John. I'll bring some prints.
And thanks for the heads up on the show!

Shawn,

Great news. It has been so long. Should I send you a map?

I know you are an early person and will probably drive over in the morning, but if you would like to come the night before and camp out, Dolly and I would love to hear about your trip last spring.

If anyone else wants to come early and camp out, please feel welcome. There will be no Porta Potty, but Dorothy found one at a park just west of here.

If anyone is coming, please let us know.

John

=P Let see, I think it was this camera show in March this year since I've seen everyone! No map required. Lynn and I made an impromptu trip over there a couple of Sundays ago. Was planning on calling you for dinner but forgot my phone with your number. Considered just stopping by but always feel a little weird about doing that...

Can't do Saturday but you guessed right, I'm going to head over for some pre-show shooting. Looking forward to it!
Shawn

Just curious, is anyone else coming or will John and I be scarfing up all the good deals? =P

I'm really hoping to make it over. I just didn't want to say until I had a better idea. But I think I can. Deals and lunch (and maybe print sharing, if I get something done tomorrow).

Dale and Jeff S should be there. I just sent a reminder to Peter. S. Lee always says he will know when he pulls in the driveway. Dolly says we are welcome back at the house after lunch for print showing unless you really want burgers and prints in the same hands.

I've ordered the new John Blakemore retrospective book. Don't know if it will get here in time.

Come on Bethe. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.

John

I will be there for sure. Depending upon the light and weather, I may try to find some photographs before hand. And I will stick around for lunch and some print showing afterwards. John & Dolly, thanks for offering to allow us to come to your house after.

Jeff

I seem to have missed the latest flurry of activity on this thread. I'll see you Sunday.

This is great, other than meeting the locals boys in March at this show I haven't seen some of you since last year. I have lots of new work but much of it has not been mounted / matted. I'll try to get several done in the meantime. Curious to see what everyone has been up to!

B. flies back in from Chicago Sunday morning. We need one parent at home. I'll try to make it, but I'm not promising that airlines will be on time or won't cancel/overbook.

Photorama

Hi all, hopefully I'll be able to come up sun but it will only be just for the show because my wife has to work at 2. Haven't had much time to shoot since last visit. Did go out a couple weeks ago and dropped my camera! Didn't seem to hurt much. At least I didn't make it to the rocks yet when it happened. Is anyone meeting for breakfast before the show? See everyone sun.
Doug

I'm planning on being at the show when it starts - otherwise I'm not sure what I'll be doing in the morning. I would like to go over early and photograph but that will depend on both how Saturday night goes and the weather. =) If I end up leaving early I'll post here before I go.

I guess I may as well mention that I am selling some glass. A 90mm f8 Super Angulon, 150mm G-Claron and a 210mm G-Claron. If anyone is interested I will have them with me. Pics of all can be seen at the LFF forum in the classifieds. So far I've only put the 210mm up here at APUG.

Got out of there without buying anything but three 4x5 film holders. Whew!

John, thanks for hosting our print sharing session yet again! Enjoyed seeing the work you did at the "building collector" down the block. =P

Bethe, I'm still thinking about that crazy burned out house and visiting the Allegheny Cemetery again. Here's the address for the Indian restaurant in Oakland.
Star of India 412 S. Craig Street Pittsburgh PA 15213
It's right by the Cathedral of Learning. You should check out Phipps Conservatory while you're there as well.

Dale, hope you keep working the flash into your photographs, you created some really interesting tonalities. I especially enjoyed the smaller 2x3 aspect ratio prints where you were meshing the foreground and background elements.

Jeff, thanks so much. I hope you enjoy the print! I'm looking forward to photographing together soon. I'd be happy to meet you or if you make it over this way I know all the best spots! =) I'll e-mail you my cell.

Shawn, the burned out house is on rt 31, sorta near West Newton. You might not find it the first (or second) time past it. If you ever want to come down this way to shoot, give a holler and I can show you where. Thanks for the restaurant recommendation! I will definitely have to check it out. And I've been to Phipps a few times - in fact, I might go the 18th of Dec with the photo club.

It was great seeing everyone's prints! I needed some inspiration and got it!

Thanks for hosting, John!

It was great fun having you all here, learning what everyone has been doing, seeing your work, hearing your feedback, planning new gathering objectives. Thank you all for coming.

John
