Welcome to APUG!

I won this competition last year, and they were a pleasure to work with. It's great that they have photographers for their jurors, as opposed to curators or gallerists. I think it makes for a film friendly competition. The juror last year was Magnum photographer Paolo Pellegrin.

I think it would be well worth it for folks to submit work to this competition. You might win, and you would support a great resource.

Good luck!

As I recall, last year was just an "entry fee" for the competition, but not necessarily a "join the club" fee, if you will. Looks to me like membership fee for CCNY is equivalent to submitting for the competition. I think I paid $35 to enter, so it's gone up, but I'm not what you would call an active member. I think if you are using their facilities... darkrooms, studios etc. the fee is considerably higher for those members. Perhaps they have a special name above and beyond active?? I dunno...

Bear in mind, when I won, the cost of the show fell on me. Fortunately, I had all my prints already framed for another show, so I really didn't mind getting some more wall space to show some work, but I discovered the down side to winning! Rejection is far less work and money, after all!! :D
