I'd appreciate some advice on what is the correct brand of cable release for a Graphex shutter. I have 3 standard cable releases & none of them fit properly. The Graphex shutter is with the Graflex Optar that came with the Crown Graphic 4x5 I bought recently.
The opening for the cable release to screw into is too narrow for the ones I have, although they all fit every other camera that I own. I need to find out what brand or model cable release has a thinner tip that will fit this shutter.

There may be a broken off cable release tip in the socket. The sockets on every Graphex I have owned have taken standard tapered cable releases.

I've seen this problem with some older shutters. It has nothing to do with a broken off tip.

The cheapest solution is to get the cable release with the properly tapered end.

Contact Rod Klukas at Photomark in Phoenix -- he knows the right brand (sold me a couple of cable releases that work, but the packaging was discarded some time ago so I cannot tell you the brand).

An alternate solution is to get the socket on the lens replaced - if its in the body(like most older 4 and 5 ILEX/ACME/whatever, ) it can be replaced by a repair place like SK Grimes so you can use any cable release.
