Recently acquired a Kodak Autographic No. 3 Special Model A from a charity shop but I can't identify the lens and shutter fitted to it. I suspect they are not original to the camera.

The shutter is a 3 speed with 1/100th, 1/60th and 1/25th, plus bulb and time but has no maker's marks that I can find. The shutter has two blades, which are in front of the aperture blades. There are 10 aperture blades. The shutter mechanism is extremely basic.

The lens is marked "Periscop - Aplanat" and that's all. The apertures run from f11 to f44, with only f22 marked between them. It has two elements, one in front of the shutter and the other behind. At I guess, I'd say the focal length was at least 135mm, as it needs to cover negatives of 3 ¼" x 4 ¼" (on 118 film).

A picture is worth a thousand words, so here are some photos. Any help identifying the lens or shutter would be greatly appreciated.

The Periscop lens is the most simple 2-element lens there is:
2 identical converging menisci with their concave sides facing each other, with the aperture inbetween.

aplanat lenses are also called rapid rectilinear lenses. it's symmetrical and you can remove 1 of the elements and convertiblize it
I might be wrong but I think it is also called the Fraunhofer named after world famous optician Joseph von Fraunhofer.
have fun !

Thanks AgX and jnantz for the replies. Would be great to know the manufacturer of either the lens or the shutter. Wondered about Steinheil for the lens, as some digging around the internet suggests it might be them. The shutter doesn't look like anything else I've seen. My digging suggests that a pure Periscop lens would be made from two simple meniscus lenses but the aplanat or rectilinear would be made with two lenses, each comprising two elements, cemented together. There also seems to have been a semi-rectilinear lens, comprising a cemented element and a meniscus. So I wonder if my "Periscop - Aplanat" is one of these semi-rectilinear lenses.
