Mysterious Substance in Part C ???

So, if we add some C41 developer C into A(no B), the solution would turn cyan, and if we put C into K2CO3 solution, it turns out the same color, which means C contains something that will turn cyan in an alkaline environment. Now if we add H2SO4 to change the PH to 7.8, the solution will turn magenta. So here is the question, what else do we have in C, except CD-4 and K2S205?

Part C of color developer c41 is in most cases that part wich come bad first from long therm storage!
I for me can't remember any trouble with part C but I would bet on :

You just find out the color wich indicates : Part C is bad!

But BTW : How do you come to potassium disulfite (K2S2O5)? It should protect CD4 from Oxidation of course but are you sure?

AFAIK the commercial part C developer is containing the CD4 agent! Would make sense!
But K2S2O5 ? For sure?

This. For this reason I add sulfite first and then the CD4 in my home brew developer. BTW I've never seen CD4 turn cyan, so that part of the puzzle still puzzles me a bit.

Yep, it contains K2SO3 which oxidizes instantly in water due to the oxygen dissolved in the water. BTDT.

As for the green color, there may be a small amount of a phenolic compound there which couples on the basic side and it forms a greenish compound. There may be other reasons.

By the way，mixture of A and C，turn cyan at the beginning，but an hour later the cyan has disappeared。

OK then it isn't K2SO5!...I had a guess but both chemicals are very less harmfull! If you don't eat
in highliest concentration! different to CD4!!!!!!!!!!

Most will come up with a search for "product name" with "MSDS" (or WHMIS) what brand of kit are you using and where was it sold originally.

For eight years, I have been studying these problems. I'm glad to find this place.

There are three big problems that bother me:
1. Kodak C41b C,as the title.

2. Tetenal C41 Developer Part 3 , its color will darken (yellowing) over time. I think it must have anti-fogging effect. But traditional formula C41 doesn't have this. (Part 3 contains - K2CO3, DTPA - Na5)

3. Tetenl Blix has excellent "stop function" even exceeding C41B bleach, but its PH value is 6.8. What's in it?

Well, this will take some time to think about. It seems that each company has their own chemistry. They did give considerably different results in terms of speed, grain, color and sharpness. This was shown in a magazine a few years ago. I did save it but cannot find it now. It might help a bit.

I'll do my best but it will take time.
