I like vertical panoramas and for me, the one on the bottom is the better of the two. But I do like how the distortion of the lightpole of the top image works well with the whole image.

However, as this is an analog-only site, presenting images that have been color converted in Photoshop and never actually printed as a wet-process print, does not quite fit here -- but instead on APUG's sister site of hybrid photography (hybrid -- digital capture, wet process print, or film capture and digitally produced print/image). The exception is if you do plan on making a wet process print, and the photoshopped image you are presenting resembles, as best you can, what the wet process print does, or will look like.

Thanks for sharing Shawn.

In fact, I already know about Horst Haman's Verticals body of work. I got so inspired by his work that I bought myself a Horizon Perfekt swing-lens panorama camera and started shooting since last November.

U can see some of my vertical panorama work in my website. More fotos are coming.

His older work was done with a swing-lens Widelux camera (spelling?) -- some are vertical (but all with infrared film). He eventually switched to an Xpan camera. I own a 12" x 32" vertical silver gelatin print he made from one of his Widelux negatives -- a piece of beauty!

Martin, I think you are bordering on a kind of interesting surrealism in that first photo. Go with it, do more!

Vertical panos are relatively rare... it seems a good area for further work and thought. The work of Danny Burk comes to mind:

But... I'd say think some more about the surrealist aspect, that looks promising. The typical vertical panos one sees have features aligning fairly predictably with the frame... trees, waterfalls, buildings. If you find a way to step out of that mould (such as the last one you posted, which relies strongly on diagonals) then you may have something very fresh.

martin, the last image is mindblowing. this kind of panoramic photography is very difficult.
