My new WIP Darkroom

Thank you all for sharing and posting all the information that helped me build my dream place.




After a lot of planning and dreaming, I decided to get out of the laundry room and build a permanent Darkroom.
I know that is very hard and require to invest a lot of money to build the perfect Darkroom.
I decided that I was going to build mine thinking on the future (Platinum/Palladium ) printing.
My budget was very limited, so during a year time, I patiently searched for all the Darkroom equipment (including cabinets) on craigslist and eBay.
The place where I spend the most money was in safety. I build a top of the line ventilation system that will allow me print and mix Platinum/Palladium in the future.




DarkRoom data:


-Horseshoe arrangement with wet side on the left, wet/Jobo in the middle and dry side on the right.


-96x36 sink that supports 20x24


-Two exhaust ventilation 48 and 24 wide located at the belie level so it will never rise to your nose. Powered by an exterior exhaust fan with filter.

That's awesome! How well does your vent system work? How loud is it and and did you buy it from Edwards Engineered Products (Dead Link Removed It looks like you have great woodworking skills.

Yes! I got it from Edwards Engineered, Jon was amazing on helping me with the ventilation. Is not much louder than a Bathroom or laundry room ventilation, since my vent is outside.
I will try it for a while , but I'm already thinking on wrapping the metal tubes in case that is not enough.

Darkroom build update

Getting closer to start printing.
I'm waiting on all the water seals to dry and in the meantime, I'm starting to organize all the supplies and tools

Great ideas you have.
Just started my own darkroom project but it's still in the early stages.
 
If I owned my house rather than merely renting, and I could coax you into visiting Australia, I'd hire you in a heartbeat to build me a darkroom!

What a phenomenal job you've done! It's always a joy to see skilled work in progress.

I think you are really enjoy using the Dri-Dek. I am refurbishing my darkroom and replaced the old red wood rack with Dri-Dek. It drains much faster than the old rack and as soon as I finish redoing the dry side, I am going to put it to use. I bought the yellow colored ones. Should look good under the safelights......Regards
 
You have done a great job. A darkroom that I wish I could have.
