Wandered through the supermarket until I found a suitably-sized can. Found one that's just about perfect - lens fits nice and snug after installing some felt lining.

Required a little surgery, as the lip of the can was too narrow for the lens, but that was easily solved with a hacksaw.

Here's a photo of a pre-op can, a 50mm Distagon, and the finished product, wrapped nicely in leather. Gotta put some kind of carry strap on it.

So you bought the product to use as a lens case but you were forced to drink a lot of coffee. Are you still wired from it?
