I just finished a new half plate collodion camera for myself.
- Front & rear standards are bookmatched birdseye maple. (bookmatched means the pieces are split from same board and are mirror images of each other).
- Base is curly/fiddleback maple
- I even had the brass bar over lensboard engraved

That's a gorgeous camera--almost too nice to use. Don't splash any silver nitrate on that pup!

Barry, Yes, I will definitely be a little more careful. Yet, I finish my cameras with Nitro lacquer, so in a couple years, I can sand the stained areas down and respray it. Just as they do with guitars.
