I was blessed with a brand new, yes, NEW enlarger for Christmas. Doing our part to keep enlarger companies in business.

Anyhoo, it's an Omega C700 and I received a 35mm negative carrier with it. I need a 645 and a 6x6 carrier too, and can use my old carriers in a pinch, but can't afford to spend $150 more (half the cost of the enlarger itself!) on two pieces of metal. Does anyone know a place where I could buy such items for less? Ebay seems awash with 35mm and occasional 6x6 carriers, but the 645 is rare as hen's teeth.

Perhaps you can give craigslist a try. I've seen a few people on craigslist put up whole darkroom setups for sell but are willing to sell individual pieces out of the lot just to get rid of them.

There's also the Apug classifieds.

All I can say is to keep watch on flembay and craigslist. Dont hesitate to check all surrounding locations for your state(whole country)on craigs, and ask them to ship. I have four C-700's, three set up and the fourth is in storage(its brand new). You can always mask a 6x6 carrier if you dont find a 6x4.5, the 6x7 is even harder to get. I also have a Pro45 w/turret and tons of lenses. Unfortunatly, I only have one 6x6 carrier for the C-700, or I would offer you one. Congrats on getting IMHO a great machine.

I am sure you could fabricate a suitable carrier out of sheet metal. either cut and file it yourself, or have the local metal fabricators do it. Just follow the outline of your current 35 mm carrier. Or, come to think of it, mill or file out the 35 to 6x6 dimensions and mask it for 35. I have also found, iirc, that B22 carriers can be made to fit. The C700 is a good little no-frills machine. I used one for many years with complete satisfaction.

Thanks everyone, and yes, I love the enlarger already. I've made four very nice 8x10's with it so far.

I think what I will do is drill a couple holes in my Bessler carriers. They'll then lay flat over the little nubs that the true Omega carriers join with. That should solve my problem and let me keep the old ones useable for my backup enlarger.

Try E P Levine, www.eplevine.com and look through their Used Section in the Used Darkroom part.
Often their search does not work too well so you have to look through every page to find them.
I have bought a couple from them and they are very reasonable, usually around $30 for C700 Carriers.

Try calling Hunt's Photo and Video here in Mass. Try calling their diffrent locations. I found a 645 carrier for my beseler 23c for only $3!!
