hello. my minolta 7000 AF doesn't take photos. When i load the film, it takes four pictures (at least that's how it sounds like) and when i press the shoot button, it focuses and then nothing happens.... I recently out a kodak colorplus 200, but it won't work. if you need more details i'm available and keep in mind that i'm kind of a novice.

The three or four shots you hear when you load the film are normal , this is the camera winding the film on to the first frame .

Have you got fresh batteries in it ?

You say the camera focusses ?
Does it lock focus and the green light come on in the viewfinder ?
Does the camera "beep" when it locks focus ?
If not the camera hasn't locked focus and the shutter won't fire .

If you set the camera to manual focus , will the shutter fire when the shutter release button is pressed ?

I just got one of these cameras gifted to me and had THE EXACT SAME ISSUE!

What I found is that you have to push the shutter button much harder than you think to take the picture. The normal strength push is good to focus. Squeeze a lot more for it to take a shot.
I was surprised and thought my camera was broken too.

You can download a instruction manual here https://www.butkus.org/chinon/minolta/minolta_maxxum_7000/minolta_maxxum_7000.htm
and a factory service manual here https://learncamerarepair.com/downloads/pdf/Minolta-Maxxum-7000-Service.pdf

Are the battery holder contacts bright and shinny? A light oxidation will prevent electronic wonders from operating properly.
thank you, it looks like that shoot button has a little twist that i didnt know and now it works, thank you!

you need to slide the button the opposite way, from left to the center to take the picture.
