Hello,

I think this best fits here, because of what most of the photos are, and where they were taken from (the street).

Those who have read my introduction post will know I have recently bought myself an Instax MIni 40 camera. These are the first "legitimate" photos I have taken with it.

One set is from downtown St.Catharine's, Ontario (4) and the other is Port Colborne, Ontario (10 - full film cartridge).

I think the ones that have turned out the best were those of objects and buildings, some more of the train track and water ones, weren't so hot.

I do definitely enjoy it, and so I will want to upgrade to a better camera that uses instax mini, preferably one with replaceable lenses, and more setting controls. I definitely think I could've gotten some better shots if I could zoom into some places.

Apologies for the scan quality, I used the highest DPI settings my lousy printer combo scanner supports (12,000 DPI) may need to get a dedicated photo scanner.

Downtown St,Catharine's

(I'm having trouble uploading the Port Colborne, Photos as the file is 11mb, if anyone knows a place that will work and doesn't cost money, please tell me).

Should I do Welland next?

You don't need to scan at 12000 dpi. Instax, especially in an Instax camera, is inherently soft (not-sharp). The photos I can see look good. You can scan them and post in the gallery here, by the way (you may need a higher post count or something, though). Basically, though, an Instax Mini photo doesn't need to be anywhere near 11mb.

That might be a challenge.

Thanks.
It is not just one photo though, it is a scan of 10 photos.

Thanks for saying my pictures look good, I think they look good, too.

As for cameras I am aware of a few that take mini film and have different settings, like the mini evo, or the automat by Lomography.
I heard the Lomography instant square can also take mini, which may offer me more variety with square and mini.

The replaceable lenses may not be a possibility, though.

Edit: I did try to upload with the gallery, but I am not allowed to do so yet. Seems I need 13 more posts, so I better respond to some other folk.

How exciting to go out, test your new camera and get your first pictures!
My favorite is the first one, with the leading lines on the pavement, the warm color of the building and the lighter sky around it.

In regards to zooming into some areas, for now you can try to get physically closer and make it work that way. They won't be the same pictures, of course, but other possibilities will appear. There's value in learning to work around the limitations of the equipment you have, since that will always the case for every different camera that you use.

Enjoy!

Thanks. In regards to zooming and getting closer, I did get closer when it was needed and possible. However sometimes it's not possible because of obstacles like street signs, poles, fences, other buildings, and active roads.

I'm gonna try to get Port Colborne uploaded soon as I think those turned out pretty well too.

I just managed to get them uploaded.

Port Colborne, Ontario

There's a few shots here (the "Port Colborne Sign", and the water shots) that I wish I didn't take and use film on, but now that I have a Mini Evo (just got it in today) I will be able to preview shots before deciding to print them.
