My dog photographed with Fuji Acros 100

My faithful hound of 16 years died a few weeks ago. I'm very sad about it, but that's another matter and not one that I expect APUG members to help me with!

What I thought I would do though is use the opportunity to show what I think is quite a fine photo of my beloved pet taken a week before he died taken with my sublime 501CM and 80mm CZ lens...Fuji Acros 100.

Good looking dog. I know it's not much fun when they go but he'll still be with you in spirit.

You've got your photos and your memories. Every photo has a story behind it.
It won't be long before you start telling stories; "I remember when that ol' dog of mine..."

Sometimes, sitting around the fire, drinking a beer and swapping dog stories is almost as good as actually having the dog.

About three years ago, my brother's apartment building burned down. Lost everything.
That year for Christmas, instead of presents, we just gave him cash. Except the envelope I gave him was taped to the back of an 8x10 framed print of "Reggie," his "bestest dog" from when we were kids.
He didn't even know I took the picture. The negative had been stored in the notebook in the back of my closet for about 20 years.

Nearly brought tears to his eyes. The best Christmas present he ever got, he told me later.

Hey Ted, really sorry to hear about your companion. He was a lovely guy from what I saw. Its a beautiful photo and a great reminder of him. I hope he didn't suffer too much.

So sorry for your loss...I have a dog (she's my profile pix on more than one place) so I know how close we get to our pets. Some pet hospitals even have bereavement counseling. That is a terrific image...very sharp..beautiful dog.

Hey Matt....thanks for posting. Yeah, I remember you petted him when you popped roud that day. It was one of those things...he was going downhill daily and I had to accept that his best days were gone and things were only going to get worse. He was overdue when you saw him to be fair and I was putting off the inevitable. But yeah, he was a great dog and thanks for your comments (how is the scanner?).

Worker - a nice story! I can imagine how that would bring tears to his eyes. Very thoughtful. Dogs certainly get us like nothing else, don't they.

I have a wall where I put the photos of all the members of my family: my wife, my son, my daughter, her fiancé and finally, my dog.
My dog, Zidane, passed away last January 30th, and we miss him every day. I guess you have the same feelings now. But his photography reminds that he loved us as much as we loved him.
I like your photography. Look a preferent place for it, and, probably, your dog will be with you for ever.
