Good morning, Pete;
Thank you. You brought back quite a few memories.
I see that the format and color of the vehicle registration plate has changed somewhat. The photograph of the Vespa I recognized very quickly as I started to scroll down looking at it. The contrast was obvious between the woman with her bag cart seated on the bench reading her newspaper, and the sign behind the glass pushing the latest "app" for the smart telephones. The Red Filter Test is a demonstration of the effect of the filter. And I was not aware of the problem with the Yashica light meter when looking through a red filter. In fact, I thought that was the virtue of having the light meter sensor behind the filter; it was supposed to automatically compensate for the filter factor. And then there are the photographs from 1956. Memories of such things as the sign "You are now leaving the American Sector." I had heard about the Russian War Memorial Garden, and I saw where it was on the map, but I had not seen any photographs of it. There are quite a few "statements" chiseled into those stone blocks.
I think there is quite a bit there on which to comment. Perhaps later. You did bring back quite a few memories, but I would also have liked to see a little more description associated with some of the photographs, at least about the location. I did recognize St. Thomas' Cathedral in Canterbury, but it was nice to have the confirming description below it. A couple of others look familiar, but I am also dealing with 50 year old memories. And I do have some familiarity with St. Thomas' Hospital in London. Hélène graduated from the RPT School there.
And I also finally did get a Yashica Lynx14 just a few years back, and a Lynx14E also. That Lynx14 was the camera I wanted back then, but I could only afford the Yashica Lynx 1000; my first 35mm camera.
Thanks for the photographs and reviving some nice memories.
Enjoy; Ralph, Latte Land, Washington
