Thank you all for the kind remarks respecting my entry in the previous MSA.
To start the new year off the subject will be "AS SEEN". Essentially an open subject. To me there is "looking" and "seeing". We constantly look at people, things and our surroundings. When we "see" something special, unusual, humorous or a special play of light that compels us to photograph it. Here are a few of what I "saw" just to get the ball rolling. What compelled me was: thousands of people drove past the detour signs a day, everyone in the street performer image are wearing stripes, the clouds mimics the roof line, the mermaids were on the outer wall of a seafood restaurant and I'll leave the last one to for you to tell me if you see what I saw. Have fun! The rules are the same

It should be fun to see what will be "seen" with this theme .
I split Jeffrey's post from the last MSA into two, and moved this new theme into its own thread, as is normal.
I've also done my usual things with Sticky designation, and updating the list of themes to date.
And to add to the momentum, another entry from an MSA long ago:

Very old one, from Oct 2009, before we learned how to develop, scan and print our own images
Cropped, edited and lightly sharpened later in 2018 ;-)

Haven't got a shot from this month-but this is the roll of film I just got scanned, from back in October. Definitely "Old" catagory!

Stopped on the side of a two-lane highway in rural Kentucky:

FPP Color 125, in my 645N. Was a cool day, drove out to a new part of the state for me.

Old, 2011 to be precise.

This was a complete happenchance picture.

An impending storm was coming and we decided to sit it out inside our camper and have a morning coffee. As we headed into a small town I headed for the local church grounds as there we should have enough room to park the truck/camper combination easily.

Upon arriving, we were flabbergasted at the site directly in front of us. All thoughts of coffee went out the window as a race against drastically changing light with the impending storm that would destroy the existing light.

As the camera always has my 150mm lens when folded, that was the lens I was going to use. As I often use an orange filter and one was on the lens, I was using an orange filter. There literally wasn't enough time to change things or be picky.

Seconds after tripping the shutter, clouds started to cover the church. Everything was thrown into the cab of the truck, while we sat out the storm in the camper playing a game of Scrabble.

skylight1b (or magenta for short), 😇

Can you elaborate a bit on the term "Hell Fishing" in the context of the sign?

I've tried online but I was unable to get a handle on the term that placated my interest.

Ps:- quite an interesting picture nonetheless.

It took me a long time to realize it, but someone had blacked out the S in "SHELL FISHING". As an alternative to "hell fishing", I sometimes like to think it's saying that to left there's hell and to the right there's fishing.

Oh, so that is why I couldn't find anything with multiple searches for hell fishing, sometimes graffiti can be good.

Not good for the authority who placed the sign there in the first place, though.

Thanks.

Just to keep the ball tolling. Remember it's basically an open catagory. If inclined a note about your post. does anyone see what prompted me to photograph the fifth photo in my original post?
Here are three more old ones: 1) a Miro sculpture at the Fondation Maeght in Saint Paul de Vence on Ilford HP5 4x5 which took a lot of convincing to use that camera on a tripod on the grounds, 2) the two women and their shadow from our hotel room in a small hotel many years ago in Nazare, Portugal Tri-x 120 with a Bronica S2A and 150mm lens and 3) rooftop also from a hotel window in Paris on Ilford Delta 400 120 with a Hasselblad and 150mm lens. Hotel room windows often are good vantage positons and I have a number of photgraphs through them. Have fun keep them coming.
