Hello everyone

This month's theme will be "Pillars - Columns". They might be an integral part of a structure, something completely ornamental, even something completely unrelated to architecture and structures in general. Use your imagination and if you see it, shoot it. Or post whatever interesting stuff you find in your film archive. So, to kick this thread off, let me give few samples from my archive:

The temple of Hephaestus in Athens, 2010.
Olympus OM10, OM Zuiko 28mm f/2,8, Agfa APX100, stock Xtol:

The Faik Pasha mosque near Arta, Greece, March 2023.
Canon EOS 300V, EF 24-70 f/4, Fomapan 100, Pyrocat HD:

{Moderators Addition:
A fine, "upstanding" theme .

A reminder - shot on film please. Please be sure to note whether submissions are "NEW" - taken in April 2023 -or "OLD" - taken before this month.
I'll do my magic with Sticky threads and I'll update the list of themes thread as well.}

Main column of Ukraine Monument of Independence. Camera Canon Photura 135. Both photos were taken from the same location, this was a simple camera zoom test.

Sounds like a great topic, here’s one for the old category, Legion Of Honor, San Francisco, and the second one is from the Internet Archive building also in San Francisco. Both from earlier this year.

Pillars of Office. From the archives.

I actually took this picture because of the symmetry of the three different sized pillars on the building, the window archways and the ironwork on the rooftop. I was able to live with the chimneys being in different directions.

Built with money from the goldrush era in the 1800's as I understand it.

Unbelievable, were you allowed to use the front door, or were you relegated to a back door? 😀
It unfortunately didn't have a front door. There were long windows in the front and 3 entrances elsewhere.

Skylight 1B, I have to ask, what is the building as it seems to be an interesting place to work in?

It's part of the Yale University campus. This is the one of the old mansions they bought and repurposed. When I was there it was the temporary home for the astronomy department. I'm not sure what's in there now.

Grote Sint Laurenskerk Alkmaar
Listening to the larger organ at the west end of the church -
one of the most famous, significant and beautiful organs in the world.
It was built by Jacobus Caltus van Hagerbeer, finished in 1645.

An old one - assuming "columns" need not be simple in shape:

Impressive set of columns there Matt, but I have to ask, is that a rock, or a Loch Ness type of monster lurking in the forewater? 😀

Most likely some floating debris. The only thing close to "Nessie" in the Fraser River would be some of the sturgeon that can be found a bit up river.
