I agree - a great idea.
By the way, I've updated the thread title.

Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon, specifically referencing the song Time. Taking this shot was a mini-Covid project and I kept thinking about the song (even played it a few times).

Time
by Mark Wyatt, on Flickr

Time, Pink FLoyd
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way...

...Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire

I guess it's time to end up this MSA - Covid makes it special but in the end I'm quite happy with the results. Great job!
For me the winner is @markjwyatt with 'Time' (though I really like 'boing-boing' very much too ...).
Congrats Mark! You deserve to pick up the theme for the next MSA.

Folks,
It seems we have a problem.
markjwyatt sent a PM to me indicating that he realizes that the images he submitted were actually taken before November. He was thinking about the subject of album art even before we knew it was going to be an MSA theme. He is more than willing to withdraw them from consideration, but that leaves no valid submissions (under the current rules).
I suggest the following:
1) if there are no objections, for this MSA we bend the rules, and choose his image as the "winner";
2) if there are objections, people have up to one week to make further submissions from past work, in which case the submitted work is re-judged. Any example of past work already in the thread is available for consideration. macfred is willing to do the judging.
I look forward to hearing from everybody. It is just after 11:00 am here. Unless there is a clear consensus earlier, I'll wait until noon tomorrow before proceeding.

To provide some context, here are the song lyrics relating to this image:

It's warm outside, no clouds are in the sky
But I need myself a place to go and hide
I keep it to myself
I don't want nobody else
To see me cryin' all those tears in my eyes

Another park, another Sunday
Why is it life turns out that way
Just when you think you got a good thing
It seems to slip away

It appears that your moderator can't read.
This submission is actually within the time frame (not January 2020, as I misread it).
My apologies!

I have a decision to announce ...
After discussions with my elderly friend Matt King :D I declare a new winner for this MSA. The win goes to @russljames with his worthy tribute to the Doobie Brothers.
I think @markjwyatt will agree with this decision, as he himself has pointed out to us that his submissions were not compliant.
An unfortunate MSA is coming to an end. I hope, for all our sakes, that things will go better next time.
Congratulations to you, @russljames !!

A nerv-wracking MSA has come to end ...
Once again, I would like to make my decision-making public:

First of all, I wanted to select Mark's 'boing-boing' photo. I like this simultaneously grotesque and dynamic photo!
Then I saw in Mark's flickr that this photo is obviously of digital origin (?). I then decided to go for the 'Time' photo.
At that point, I was not aware of any rule violation that would have militated against it.
Shortly afterwards, Mark had contacted our top referee Matt and made his unknowing breach of the rules known. He took his photograpph to early for this MSA.

Thereupon I had to change my mind.
WhenI was then forced to 'revise', I decided with a good feeling for the rule-compliant photo of Russ from the park. I like the timeless and classy look,I like the Doobies and I like hanging around in parks.
In my eyes, Russ is a rightful and deserved winner and he will host the next MSA.

macfred,

Thank you! While I have been chosen to create the next theme, I’m glad that you again recognize Mark as having submitted the image which you initially liked the best. To honor that, I am choosing a new theme that has “time” as a core.

Our March/April MSA will be “Changing Season”. The new thread will be created later in the day, along with the description about what I have in mind.

Cheers,

Russ
