Its a new year and hope this has been as a great Monthly Shooting Assignment for you, as it has been for me.
The images given has helped me discovered, after living so many years in the southwest, that we have taken for granted the light we have here, as compared to other places.
The FlyingCamera in Twilight in Georgetown, brought the twilight light from landscape scenes into the heart of a city, as the hussel and bussel carries forward into the evening, with the blur of activity as a biker passes by, ... with momentum.
Then Wilmarcolmaging, Near the end of the blue hour, stills that activity into a set, that now longs for rest and sleep, in the still quiet of the night.
Then off into the early morning light, we go half way around the world, and find the day has started by the courageous madfred, ... taking an image of devotion and thankfulness within the Münster Cathedral! Giving a start of our new day, with the joyful, singing of voices echoing all around us.
The day continues, even the interiors are lit to a brightness at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, in Mexico City, as the FlyingCamera captures the structural focus and containment of an architectural masterpiece.
Alas, its time to reflect, and we go to sit quietly with ones pet, and take a moment of stillness. as shown by russlijames with his faithful friend.
Then, .. its off for another adventure, ... into sly's mossy arches of the northern pacific's, ... dim green light! That of a temperate rain forest!
Oh my goodness! The light must be so low near the horizon, at this this time of year in the northern hemisphere, and the foliage so thick and moist, that my desert rat toes curl in wonder. Then,.. in that ... slow, ... low, ... gentle light, ...
suddenly, .... .. the Mirkwood reaches out to capture me, ... and try's to hold me ransom, ... forever!!!
Phew we escape, ... to fly into another early night, on the opposite cost, near Norwich, in upstate New York, to walk the Christmas lighted scene of MrBrowning's town.
barabara ann takes us further south to New Jersey, to look up into the sky and see the super moon, and the Buddha back bathed in sun beams, as we are captured by the star filtered candle light in a three tier odyssey of wandering delight, spreading out its light.
Then off to Arches National Park, ... to walk with wyofilm, to view the wonders of the red rocks, weathered and forged to natures enchanted charm, so as to instill within us the wonder of our surroundings. .
Traveling on to the other side of the world again, ... we find Bertus image of a soft window lighted Netherland young lady. Peering deep into the space of time. Wanting to share her heart with a questioning look, seeking and respecting a reply to her inquiry in her delight, and the giving of the flowers she holds so near and dear.
Then MattKing brings us back, with a bang, to Southwest Canada, east of Sly's adventure, by the Pacific northwest, to instill us again to the captivity of the mosses. Going Down and up Again in the life at Tynehead Park, as we tread, climb and are keep at bay by the Forest Fences. .
What a journey, ... so we continue, ... and take the water course of esearing's Frogtown Creek III, in early morning light, to ride out to the dry southwest again to my abode, so my clothes will dry and my toes can uncurl, and dry out.
Sigh... the trip is over, ... and now we have to decide, who is a winner in a world that has been shown, in which all is prized.
We are caught between the juxtaposition of the brighten softening light of many of these images, ... and the totally subdued quiet reflective light where a shadow cannot even be seen.
Of the bright softening light. side ...
madfred's, Münster Cathedral
and FlyingCamera's, Twilight in Georgetown take preference
WOW!
Yet, situated between the two, is a single image, forging the juxtaposition of the brighten softening light and the totally subdued quiet reflective shadow. Seen in the eyes and expression of Bertus Netherland's young lady.
WOW!
Then of the images of totally subdued, quiet reflective light ...
sly's, Mirkwood
and MattKing's Forest Fences.
oh WOW again!
Now to decided...
At the beginning we stated:
" Be creative, try to catch the mood of a slower, quiescent, quiet light."
It has taken me hours to decide, and it has not been easy at all!!!! ... It really surprised me, but the images of the totally subdued and quiet light of the rain forest, lichen and moss keep me returning to those images.
Ah... Soooo... we have in descending order :
madfred's, Münster Cathedral
Bertus Netherland's young lady.
and tied for the winner, sly's, Mirkwood and MattKing's Forest Fences.
But we need to name one, ... darn... soooo it becomes MattKing's Forest Fences.
Thank you all for your entries....
and looking forward to our next assignment.MattKing
and may all have a heck of a good photo year.and all your images turn out as you hopefully perceived them.
